The European Union in Malaysia introduced its report “Left Far Behind: The Affect of COVID-19 on Entry to Training and Healthcare for Refugee and Asylum-Searching for Kids in Peninsular Malaysia” by Diode Consultancy and Wan Ya Shin!
The report is a partnership venture carried out by UNICEF Malaysia and the Institute for Democracy and Financial Affairs (IDEAS) and co-funded by the European Union in Malaysia.
As Malaysia emerges out of the pandemic, this research presents findings demonstrating the disproportionate results of the COVID-19 pandemic on the already precarious circumstances of those weak youngsters. If not addressed promptly, these results are more likely to trigger long-term harm to their lives.
Drawing from knowledge from the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers, the suggestions within the research acknowledge classes realized throughout the pandemic in offering concrete recommendations for overcoming recognized obstacles and capitalizing on new alternatives.
